Japanese squirrel

Sciurus lis (Sciurus lis) is a tree squirrel of the genus Sciurus endemic to Japan. Dutch zoologist Coenraad Jacob Temminck described it in 1844. The range of the Japanese squirrel includes the islands of Honshū, Shikoku, and Kyūshū. Recently, populations in southwestern Honshū and Shikoku have declined, and those in Kyūshū have disappeared. One of the factors affecting the regional extinction of this species appears to be human deforestation.

Japanese squirrels are everyday creatures. They usually work early in the morning and in the afternoon they like to sleep in trees. They live in nests that they build in trees and move from one place to another. These squirrels don't come in. To prepare for the winter, they store seeds and seeds in their holes. Sometimes, they forget the safe place they have created and can find another spider's safe place that they don't hesitate to steal. Japanese squirrels are usually solitary, but in the winter, adults may gather together. There is a social hierarchy between men and women; Older, heavier people tend to be more dominant and have larger house sizes.
